Meetings

Roche CAP holds monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of every month in conference rooms at Roche Colorado.  Dinner is provided.

The purpose of the meetings is to receive issue and community activity updates from the Roche staff members and education on multiple aspects of a pharmaceutical company.  CAP members are encouraged to ask questions and to raise issues that they believe Roche Colorado should address in response to community interests.

CAP meetings cover a variety of topics, some that arise spontaneously in response to RCC plans or current events and others that recur as needed to educate new members.  Appropriate speakers from Roche, regulatory agencies, and the community are brought in to provide information on Roche activities of relevance to the interests of the Boulder community.  These events often provide the impetus to pursue future topics.  The following are examples for topics of discussion:

  • General overview of Roche Colorado and its pharmaceutical research, development and manufacturing activities.
  • A survey of the pollution prevention measures that are in effect.
  • A description of the processes used to manufacture pharmaceutical products.
  • A briefing on one or more of the important pharmaceutical products Roche Colorado is producing.
  • Risk assessment methodology associated with chemical exposure.
  • A description of the methods used to assess process safety risks and to develop the systems for managing these risks.
  • The stakeholder impact of Roche Colorado's participation in the Responsible Care Program.
  • The procedures (including a physical demonstration) used by the laboratory for developing the physical data that is used in Process Safety Management.
  • An explanation of the Roche Corporate Risk Assessment Directive.
  • EPA’s Risk Management Program.
  • Site incident investigation procedure.
  • Emergency planning and response activities; Emergency Brigade activities, and coordination with Boulder County’s emergency response units.
  • Roche Colorado’s community outreach initiatives.
  • An overview of the security management philosophy.
  • Development of regulations in the chemical industry.

Each year a physical tour of the facility is given that provides a firsthand view of production, safety, and waste management systems.
