CAP Objectives

The CAP mission is to create a forum for ongoing dialogue and an open exchange of ideas between Corden Pharma Colorado Corporation and the Boulder community.  The CAP serves a mechanism for the public to convey its questions, comments or concerns to Corden Pharma Colorado.  At the same time, it provides a forum for the company to respond directly to residents of the community.  The CAP meets regularly with CPC representatives to discuss issues of concern to both cititzens and the company.

The primary objectives of the panel are to:

  • Provide input from CAP members and feedback from the community about plant operations and plans.
  • Identify ways to improve communications within the community.
  • Convey appropriate information to the community about facility operations and concern.
  • Inform Corden Pharma Colorado of broader industry issues that are important to the community.
  • Provide a means to educate plant and corporate management about the community

The CAP mandate is to facilitate open dialogue between all stakeholders in the community and respect all viewpoints.  The panel believes that efforts to resolve any issues surrounding present or proposed Corden Pharma Colorado operations should be collaborative and will help to resolve any controversies that might arise with a focus on mutual cooperation.

The CAP works on the assumption that responsible chemical and pharmaceutical companies will remain in the community so that the goal is to live together in a way that will meet reasonable community needs and expectations with respect to health, safety and environmental issues.  The intended result of the CAP is that both groups reach a “common ground” of understanding in order to build and sustain a bridge of trust between Corden Pharma Colorado and the community.

The Community Advisory Panel was initiated in October 1991 in accordance with Responsible Care guidelines established by the Chemical Manufacturers Association.  Service on the CAP is completely voluntary.
